I’m Here To Help
I’ve been there and had to make the hard choices. Choosing the addiction services and rehabilitation to meet our needs is a daunting task. Once I made the decision to seek treatment, I reached out to several only to be bombarded with options.
There is much to consider and each of us should have a treatment plan catered to meet our needs. When we are at rock bottom and ready to commit it isn’t the easiest time to make that decision. Insurance, mental health, and level of addiction all play a role in your choice. Drunk On Words, Recovery Efforts goes into more detail about options that are available to your disposal.
Rehabilitation Resources
I am not an authority on rehabilitation. In fact, I am a once and doner, while others have been in and out of treatment. Christ-centered, holistic treatment was my choice. There is an option for anyone who chooses to recover from their addiction.
Secular Rehabs
In a secular rehabilitation center recovery is not based on a higher power. The addiction is viewed as a medical condition and treated much the same as a chronic illness, using scientific methods.
Spiritual Immersion
The Archway Foundation, Boca Raton, Florida combines the 12-Step immersion with a holistic approach that integrates spiritual principles into the recovery journey.
I was introduced to spiritual immersion and found success with the holistic approach to healing.
Christ-centered Healing
The Christian Care Center, Leesburg, Florida, offers a men and women’s care center for those struggling with addiction. The Woman’s Care Center, is a safe space for women to reside during time of counseling.
I am actively involved with this community and witness how Christ is changing the lives of men and women as they break free from the bondage of their addiction.
Support Group Resources
If you have already stepped out of denial and are aware of your struggles with alcoholism detox and rehabilitation may not be necessary. There are support groups available to walk with you as you navigate your path towards sobriety. These groups vary according to your interests and needs.
Secular Groups
AA, known as Alcoholics Anonymous, help those who struggle with alcohol. If you find, that you, yourself, are constantly failing your efforts to remain sober it might be time to look for an alternative.
The 12-Step program not only helps with the dependency of alcohol, but is a program that improves character and improving relationships.
Christian-based Groups
A Christ-centered program which looks at the bigger picture. For those who struggle with either a hurt, habit, or hang-up, Celebrate Recovery is an option.
The first eighteen months of recovery I attended AA. As I grew in my recovery, I discovered not only was I lacking a higher power, but I lacked a relationship with Christ. I shifted my recovery to CR to tackle the underlying issues of my alcohol abuse.
Scientific Based Recovery
SMART recovery is an evidence-informed approach to overcoming addictive behaviors and leading a balanced life and emphasizes self-empowerment.
During early recovery I did not have success at finding a local meeting for SMART recovery. I prefer in person, one on one, meetings.
